Whether it be going to a gym or having your own gym at home, exercise and working out should be a daily part of your routine. It is important that our bodies keep active and ready to face each day, otherwise, as our bodies become sluggish, so does our mind.

Today, it is difficult for most to find time for a daily exercise routine because of a sedentary lifestyle. Most people have office jobs that entail sitting in front of the computer the whole day, and to top that off, each one deals with work-related stress and personal anxieties. Though aware of the benefits of exercise, people just fall into a rut and become stagnant, leading to poor work performance, high stress levels, and obviously an unhealthy physical lifestyle.

Take that first step into an active lifestyle

Taking that first step can sometimes be one of the hardest steps to take but after you start the rest is easy or at least easier! If you use essential oils from the start it creates a really beautiful habit as they are just amazing at boosting and uplifting emotions and physical well-being. Essential oils are naturally occurring aromatic compounds found in seeds, bark, roots, flowers and other parts of plants. They are nature’s gifts for us and they positively enhance whatever situation we are in. Try these tips and experience for yourself how essential oils can help you:

  • Add a few drops of Lemon, Lime, or Wild Orange essential oil to your water bottle to help hydrate and invigorate you before going to the gym.

  • Apply warming essential oils to the limbs during your warm up to help loosen problem areas.

  • Dilute essential oils like Peppermint with dōTERRA® Fractionated Coconut Oil and rub on the chest before your workout to promote clear breathing.

  • If working out at home diffuse essential oils like Grapefruit, Bergamot, Wintergreen, and other oils with an uplifting aroma to keep you motivated throughout your workout.

  • After your workout massage essential oils like Coriander and Lemongrass to the legs and feet to help soothe and relax the muscles.

The natural fragrance of essential oils can help keep your body smelling fresh during your exercise and neutralize odors with their antibacterial properties. I love any natural alternatives and this this DIY Deodorant doesn’t block sweat but allows the pores to breathe unlike conventional deodorants that blocks pores and prevents you from sweating. Consider making your own essential oil deodorant without the harmful effects of conventional deodorants.

DIY natural Deodorant

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup aluminum free baking soda

  • ¼ cup arrowroot or cornstarch

  • 3–5 tablespoons coconut oil

  • 15 drops essential oil

Recommended essential oils: Lemon, Melaleuca, Lavender, Lime, Geranium, Lemongrass, and Thyme.

Note: If you live in a warm climate, add one ounce of melted Shea or cocoa butter to recipe.

Instructions

  • Combine baking soda, arrowroot, and essential oil in bowl.

  • Combine coconut oil with other ingredients one tablespoon at a time until mixture is at desired consistency.

  • Press firmly into empty deodorant container and let sit until coconut oil solidifies.


Keeping your equipment hydenicially clean

Essential oils also possess cleansing properties that can be useful for keeping your exercise equipment clean. Whether it is your own equipment, or that of the gym, you will want to keep this DIY Cleansing Spray always handy and ready for use.

DIY Equipment Cleansing Spray

Recommended essential oils: Try using oils with cleansing properties like Eucalyptus, Grapefruit, Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, or Wild Orange. Combine all ingredients together in the glass bottle. Mix well, spray, and wipe.

  • 2–4 ounce spray bottle

  • 5 drops of essential oil(s)

  • Witch hazel (¼ of spray bottle)

  • Filtered water
